Overview
LegalSign (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your personal information. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how we keep it safe. We comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
What we collect
- Account information: Your name and email address when you register.
- Documents: Files you upload for signing, including any personal information contained within those documents.
- Signature data: Electronic signature records, signing timestamps, and IP addresses for audit trail purposes.
- Usage data: Basic analytics on how you use the platform (page views, feature usage) to help us improve.
- Billing information: Payment details are processed securely by Stripe and are not stored on our servers.
How we use your data
- To provide and operate the LegalSign service
- To generate legally binding audit trails for signed documents
- To send transactional emails (signing requests, confirmations)
- To improve and maintain the platform
- To comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your documents to train machine learning models.
Data storage
All data is stored on Australian servers via Supabase (Sydney region). Documents are encrypted at rest and in transit. Backups are retained securely and are also stored within Australia.
Data retention
We retain your account data and documents for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, you may request deletion of your data. We may retain certain records where required by law (e.g. signed document audit trails).
Third-party services
We use a limited number of trusted third-party services to operate:
- Supabase — database and file storage (Australian servers)
- Stripe — payment processing
- Resend / SMTP2GO — transactional email delivery
Each provider is bound by their own privacy policies and applicable data protection laws.
Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC)
